Joint Support Visit to SMK Langkawi and SK Pulau Tuba 24.06.19

SIP+ En. Azudin and SISC+ Miss Mirinda’s joint visit today to the two DTP-AMAN schools on Pulau Tuba focussed on sharing progress at each school during the first half year.

SLT and MLT at each school were updated about the DTP-AMAN PPD- led Transformation(PLT) team from PPD Langkawi before sharing how the school was monitoring 2019 Plan Tactical progress.

Focussing on each school’s Strategic Plan provides a common point for professional dialogue. The role of both SIP+ and SISC+ is to provide support for SLT and MLT to improve their current systems, processes and practices resulting in better student outcomes.

Positive interaction between SK Pulau Tuba SLT/MLT and SIP+/SISC+

Different approaches for documenting instructional leadership practices were shared as well as how each school was analysing recent student assessments and planning for next steps. A focus on PBD is currently high priority at both schools with LW and peer coaching followed up by PLC part of the process to support teachers.

Both schools will also be supported to hold dialog prestasi at the school level in July.

While island life might be slower than life in a big city, helping to improve student and school outcomes is still “core business” and #1 priority for the PLT team at PPD Langkawi.

SISC+ Review C3 and Plan C4 Actions 15.05.19

As part of the DTP-AMAN cycle of inquiry, SISC+ met to review Cycle 3 Instructional Leadership implementation progress and plan how they will cascade Cycle 4 Policy Implementation.

There is strong collaboration between the SISC+ who are supporting MLT development in DTP- AMAN and TS25. By connecting these two DT programmes, SISC+ are able to make effective use of processes and modules to ensure MLT are well able to support teachers in their schools.

DTP Programme Manager, Timbalan Hj Kamal bin Hashim, joined the discussion to hear some of the successes and challenges the SISC+ encounter as part of their ongoing work with MLT.

Google Form Bengkel at SMK Tunku Putra 05.03.19

SMK Tungku Putra support team held a Bengkel to day with MLT and PK1 to explore how to use Google Form to create LW surveys.

Next step is for the MLT to create their own LW survey and try it out before PLT come back in a week. It will be interesting to see how the school can use the LW data to plan very specific interventions supporting teachers in their journey towards continuous improvement.

Well done to SMK Tungku Putra and PPD Langkawi PLT team.

PLT team making sure MLT are able to select the most appropriate answer format for the LW question.

PK1 support for MLT is critical to enable them to do their job of supporting teachers effectively.

Google Form Bengkel SK Kilim 05.03.19

SLT and MLT at SK Kilim learnt how to use Google Form to create an efficient way record and analyse LW data. They were able to use their new learning immediately by going on a LW to the classrooms focussing on Positive Learning Environment, then coming together to analyse the data. The next step is to have a PLC with teachers to share this LW data and agree next steps intervension for continuous improvement.

Well done SK Kilim with support from PPD Langkawi PLT team.

SIO Bengkel#2 Instructional Leadership 21.02.19

The day finally arrived after much planning and preparation by PLT team.

Facilitators SISC+ Zainab and Mirinda with PPD officer Ismail skillfully took the SIO through the key aspects of Instructional Leadership linking this to KPM’s vision.

The SIO explored what makes an effective learning environment in preparation for determining how SLT and ML can use LW and PLC to improve classroom practice.

For visiting LeapEd DTP-AMAN coaches, it was interesting to see the PLT cascading the knowledge, skills and approaches they themselves had experienced just a few weeks ago during C3 PLT CPD.

Next steps are for SIO to coach the SLT and ML in their designated schools to implement LW and PLC over the next few weeks.

Sustainable transformation!
