56x SLT from all PPD Langkawi schools took the opportunity to explore and unpack SKPMg2 Std 1 from a developmental perspective today.
Using their own school data from 2018 SKPMg2 Std 1 self-evaluation to form a spider’s web, SLT were able to identify priorty aspects and begin to set more realistic 2019 KPIs.
In groups of 4, schools then had the task of unpacking one of the twelve SKPMg2 Std 1 aspects using one of seven different tools.
The new learning and resulting professional dialogue among the participants indicated growing SLT understanding of how to use SKPMg2 Std 1 to improve their practice as transformational leaders.
This understanding was supported by having specific open-ended questions to guide development of quality systems and practices for each Std 1 aspect and what evidence from these practices schools could use to back up their self-evaluation.
SLT were given a follow up, follow through (FUFT) task to complete collaboratively back in schools, continuing to build their understanding by applying new learning to authentically update 2019 SKPMg2 Std 1 self- evaluations. From there, each school is expected to design specific interventions which will form the basis of ongoing discussions during SIO school visits.
Feedback indicates this workshop was useful and met the needs of participants.
SMK Tungku Putra support team held a Bengkel to day with MLT and PK1 to explore how to use Google Form to create LW surveys.
Next step is for the MLT to create their own LW survey and try it out before PLT come back in a week. It will be interesting to see how the school can use the LW data to plan very specific interventions supporting teachers in their journey towards continuous improvement.

SLT and MLT at SK Kilim learnt how to use Google Form to create an efficient way record and analyse LW data. They were able to use their new learning immediately by going on a LW to the classrooms focussing on Positive Learning Environment, then coming together to analyse the data. The next step is to have a PLC with teachers to share this LW data and agree next steps intervension for continuous improvement.

SIO joined PLT team members and LeapEd DTP- AMAN coaches on a visit to SMK Tunku Putra today to see the impact of recent coaching about Learning Walks to SLT and ML.
The focus of the LW was determined by the school and was a follow up from an earlier LW SKPMg2 Std 4.4.1. Observers used google form to record their observations of a range of classes.
At the end of LW, observers met briefly to share their initial impressions of both the LW process and their impressions of classroom practice of SKPMg2 Std 4.4.1.
Collated LW data will be discussed by SLT, ML and PLT to identify strengths, areas for improvement and next steps. SLT and ML will then hold a PLC to share the LW data analysis with teachers and agree with planned next steps.

2019 brings fresh opportunities for increasing collaboration between SISC+, SIO (School Improvement Officer) and the eight DTP- AMAN schools.
SISC+ focus is on supporting two DTP-AMAN schools with five ML (Middle Leaders) and five GDB in each school. Each ML will be paired with a GDB and will observe the SISC+ coaching and mentoring their GDB. The ML will continue to support the GDB between SISC+ visits. ML will have a weekly meeting time for PLC, ML CPD, SLT/ ML sharing and planning.
SIO have responsibility for supporting one DTP-AMAN school each and their focus is on improving the SLT ( Senior Leadership Team) capacity to lead school transformation. Building capable leaders of change and leaders of learning requires a positive mindset, commitment to being solutions- focussed, and to regularly reflect on the impact of your actions for teachers and students.
